The food is excellent, authentic and I highly recommended it. I've been to several Peruvian restaurants and Don Pollo Sunnyside knocks it out of the park. It's so good that I come from a long distance to enjoy their food. The chicken is very moist, yuca fries are amazing and everything I've tried has been really great. In addition, the service was superb. Every time I come, Antonella and family greet me with a smile and provide outstanding service. This establishment is family owned and it's apparent they care about the food they serve to their customers. I plan to regularly visit and support their business. The distance I travel is well worth it.

We decided to try out this place as we found it on Uber Eats. We also love to be able to support local businesses during COVID19. The food was delicious and affordable. We ordered the combo chicken with a generous amount of chicken, chaufa rice ( similar to Chinese fried rice), fried plantains, avocado salad, plantains, and salchipapa ( hot dog and fries) alot of food! They also had this really yummy white sauce for the chicken. They delivered within a reasonable time and food was delicious! Support local businesses if you are able to!

For what it's worth, I like Don Pollo. They have done a good job in providing Sunnyside with consistent, quality Peruvian fare. I don't know if they'd be considered among the best in the hood, but they're certainly among the most expensive. They have managed to be one of the bright spots in an otherwise semi-dead part of Greenpoint Ave. Their small'ish spot has one of the more unique layouts for any restaurant in the area: one side is a series of booths for multi-person parties and the other side is more of a take-out area. One of the pillars of Peruvian cuisine has been the rotisserie chicken and I am pleased to say that DP's rendition is quite good. There is an excellent char on the skin of these birds and the meat is super juicy while going well with their aji (green sauce1). Some other standouts include their tallarin verde and their jalea, a fried seafood platter that gets a lot of attention. I would throw in some love for the lomo saltado, but I wasn't as impressed with it the last couple times that I had it. The one thing that most people would gripe about is the price. Some of these dishes are upwards of $30+ and many of the individual platters are getting closer to $20 each. That's not more expensive than the neighboring Italian spots or steakhouses per se, but it feels pricier than most / if not all the Peruvian places in Sunnyside.

It is a small restaurant but nice and cozy setting- I don't mind dining in here. The waitress that served us was very friendly and the place is small enough so waving her down for anything was no chore at all. The portions were generous and my kids downed their food (even my picky one) so that's a good sign and I will since they liked it. We had the green spaghetti with steak and steak/beans/rice. The beans looked more like bean soup and was quite tasty with the rice. Overall, a pleasant experience.

This place just opened and I wanted to try it since I'm a fan of Peruvian food. Two coworkers and myself got the Combo Peru and a pitcher of lemonade. The combo consists of 1 whole chicken, order of fries, yellow rice and avocado salad. Everything was really good. The chicken was juicy and tender, the salad came with a good light dressing, the rice was cook to perfection. Even the lemonade was good. I'm glad they opened this restaurant in my neighborhood and cant wait to try their other dishes.
